For over 60 years
the Glide Community Club has been honoring outstanding community
members for their dedicated community service. In 2005 the
Club decided to award college scholarships to outstanding Glide High
School graduating Seniors. The organization feels that not
only were academics important but community service should be
included. Each year awarding of the scholarship is included in
the Glide First Citizen Celebration.
The GCC Scholarship Committee asks students to include in their
scholarship application 4 things:
* Your plan for your future: educational, career, life
* Your demonstrated persistence to go after and achieve
goals
* Your clearly thought out financial plan, including your
contributions from work and savings
* Your civic-mindedness and community involvement:
how have you been giving back to others until now, and how do you
plan to give back in the future?
Each year the selection process is very difficult. GHS has an
abundance of outstanding young men and women who will not only be
outstanding leaders tomorrow, but the First Citizens of tomorrow.
