Jordaon Elizabeth Anderson:
Jordan Anderson has a
great track record for community service. Her total
hours spent in service far exceeds the average. From
picking pears to serving food to teaching volleyball to
reading to children – she has done them all. Her
favorite, though was making pillowcases for cancer
patients in her freshman year at Glide.
Besides being influenced by Mr. Doty and her science teacher
Mr. Shaw, there is one particular incident that impressed upon
her the amazing field of medicine. When she tore her ACL and had
to undergo surgery she was so impressed by the technology she
became interested in medicine as a career choice.
Jordan will be attending Brigham Young University in Provo,
Utah to major in Biochemistry. From there she will select a
medical school and become a doctor. Jordan has taken college
level writing, history, chemistry and physical science classes
at Glide high school.
Something unique about Jordan centers around her love of
music. She sang soprano in choir. She plays the flute and was
first flute in grades 11 and 12. She and has a collection of
several flutes, is self teaching piano, and fiddles around with
the violin, guitar, and ukelele. She collects musical
instruments and says every time her mom goes somewhere she asks
her to find another musical instrument for her collection.
In sports Jordan played volleyball all 4 years and went to
state tournament 2 years. She was in track and field also. She
has been in National Honor Society and literature club the last
3 years and outdoor club senior year. She is very involved in
her church and has time for Glide booster club and donated time
in Bright Works Oregon.
Those who recommend Jordan for this scholarship call her a
very well rounded young lady, dependable, invested, passionate,
hard working, committed to excellence and naturally talented.
She ranks #1 in her class of 51 students.
On behalf of the Glide Scholarship Committee and Glide
Community Club, I would like to present this scholarship to
Jordan Anderson.
