2015 Memorial Lighting Upgrade

For some time, the steward of the Glide Veterans' Memorial, Bill DeGroot, has dreamed of enhancing the lighting on the US flag at the Memorial.  That dream has finally become a reality thanks to a most generous donation from the Bitker Gould Family Charitable Foundation.

Jim and Susan (Sciple) Gould and Mike Sciple recently presented the donation to the Steward at the Glide Veterans' Memorial.

Susan and Mike Sciple grew up in Glide in the early 1970’s and graduated from GHS. Susan and her husband Jim now live in  St. Louis but they still maintain a deep love for this area and the community.  Susan served in the military, and both Jim and Susan have a special place in their hearts for veterans.

A sincere thanks to all those who contributed their labor, materials, time or other donations to this project.  They are:  Bob Carter, Bill DeGroot, Mike Floth, Don Kidd, Bill Scheufele, Mike Sciple, Jim Smith, Dixon Steel of Roseburg, Don’s Powder Coating of Green, John and Amy O’Sullivan of North River Electric, and a special individual who wishes to remain anonymous.
