Through the years, many of our past first citizens have served our community in many ways.

Our first honoree is no exception. This person started serving the youth of this community upon arriving to the Glide area.

This person began serving as a youth minister; however, he made himself available to all the youth in the community, not just those who attended his church. He could be found at all the youth sports activities encouraging all the team members.

He can be found working along side his wife every month at the 7th Day Adventist Church preparing meals for delivery and then delivering them to community members who are unable to attend the "Grateful Bread" dinner.

This person gives selflessly of himself to the community as he models what it means to be a servant leader.

Please join me in thanking and honoring Abe Long as Glide First Citizen 2015

Our next honoree can be found serving people of all ages in many different venues.

After moving back here from far away this person got right to work and started giving back to the community.

This special person works with kids of all ages, mentoring them and providing them with another person with which to talk.

She worked with a friend and neighbor in Glide Elementary School’s "Paw Patch". Though now she is paid for some of her time with this project, she goes above and beyond in all she does. Planning and teaching lessons involving the garden for all ages, she helps the students grow and harvest fresh food for their lunches.

She started a special "Back Pack Program" for elementary school children. This program provided weekend food packs for children who had need.

Then a few years ago with the help of a friend, she organized and started the Grateful Bread" meal program, through which, over 200 people from all walks of life in the Glide area are served a home cooked meal every month.

The people who meet her are drawn by her warmth and caring and join her in serving others in the community of Glide.

Please join me in thanking and honoring Kelli Long as Glide First Citizen 2015.
