History Title
On April 3rd, 1911, Glide Grange #362 was organized by T. L. Lee, with a membership of 24 charter members. By 1958, the interest and the membership had waned to the point that it was decided to surrender the charter.

On January 15, 1958, the executive committee of the Grange met for the purpose of forming a Community Club. The members present for this meeting were: M. H. McCord, Elbert Cellers, Ray Ballou, Jim Watson, and Dorothy Carlson. Those paying their dues were to be charter members. Officers elected were: Elbert Cellers, President; Don Wright, Vice President, and Ruth Keys, Secretary-Treasurer. The President appointed a committee to draw up the Constitution and the By-laws. Those appointed were: Ben Serafin, Mick Slattery, Barbara Cellers, Jack Mills, Harry Bakken, and Norma Wright.

On January 20th, the By-laws were accepted and were to be presented to the club on January 22nd. On that date, January 22, 1958, the Glide Community Club was actually formed. The By-laws and the Constitution were accepted, the meeting time set, and committee chairmen were appointed.

On June 2nd, at a special meeting of the school board, it was decided to give the old gym to the Community Club. Don Wright reported that the Eugene firm would move the building on June 15th for $2,500.00.

On June 11th, it was reported that approximately $3,500.00 had been pledged. All pledges under $10.00 were made as donations. Bonds would then be issued for all pledges of $10.00 or more. It was also voted that the school rifle club, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Campfire Girls, and Blue Birds were to have the use of the building without charge.

The moving of the building from the school grounds to the present site was a big project. Many people worked to get the job done.
